When I say underdog games, I mean games that are really great, but the average parent or casual gamer doesn’t know about them. Mostly these games are indie games, developed by smaller studios. I played through all of them and enjoyed them quite a bit. All of them are available on the Nintendo Switch eShop and many as a retail version too. Since they are hardly triple A titles, they are cheap and on sale quite often too. What’s not to love? I tried to present a diverse selection of genres for your enjoyment on the next rainy sunday afternoon.

So without further fluff, here we go.

Into the Breach

Into the Breach started as a sensation on Steam a few years back and made it’s way to plenty of platforms. It’s kind of a roguelike, turn based tactical game, with time travel, a few RPG elements, upgrading your characters and mechs. The visuals consist of simple pixelgraphics, but they ooze charme. This game can be really tough on your brains, but multiple playthroughs are fun, since you can unlock new mech teams. If chess was invented by a 90’s geek nowadays…
