Hey Gregory, I feel you.

I’ve been trying various keyboards. A very good low profile mechanical keyboard (thats cheap as well) is the Sharkoon Purewriter TKL with red (for a little less noise) and double-clicky blue Kailh switches. It’s really nice to type on, with a quick and short throw, but is only made from ABS plastics and unfortunately not wireless. If you considered the MX Keys you should look into the brand new Lenovo Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard II releasing just about now. Yes, it’s no mechanical but arguably the best “non-mechanical”, laptop-style keyboard and really tiny. If you learn how to handle the nub, it can be of real benefit too. I remember the time where even finding a decent TKL mechanical keyboard was a chore, finding a silent, reliable, wireless, TKL is still hard, as you have experienced yourself! :) A friend suggested the Tada 68 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. I don’t have personal experience with it. But it’s small and wireless. About the noise, I fear not much you can do besides O-Rings (some work better than others), linear switches and maybe putting foam into all keycaps! I hope this at least helped somewhat! :)

Take care and happy typing! :)
