I can't stand that whole RGB stuff either and I quit gaming a while ago too. I got started on a Sharkoon PureWriter that had low profile blues with double-click. The construction of it all was shoddy but it's still a great keyboard to write on, makes your fingers fly.
65 really seems the way to go, also need my arrow keys, still need to pickup a leo, would be interesting. I destroyed 2 keyboards trying soldering and desoldering. Ouch. Funny, I also once had a Durgod with MX blacks, in that retro beige color, but had to return it because while it felt and looked proper retro, it was tiring my fingers.
I have built myself a switchtester with about 110 different switches, so I can confirm what you say about pinks vs whites. I can also confirm at the end of the day the top 10% really good ones stand out, as do the 10% really bad ones. Everything in between often is just "oh, this feels different" if we are being honest. Differences between linears, tactiles and clickies apply of course.
If there is one thing I'd love to have then its the retro-inspired Durgod Fusion in that red/black NES theme. I think it looks lovely. But as per usual, it's just available in US-ANS and it would just be ANOTHER cherry mx blue board.
Where did you get your 65 leo from? Candykeys?
