I Quit the World for a Month

Coming back online felt a bit like dying.

With the lockdowns raging over my country I needed a break. A break from my work, from my contacts and the overall crazyness that lurks around every corner online. Shortly before christmas I went into complete hermit mode (I’m living a very reclusive life, even before social distancing) and did not only keep my distance from real people, but also from their online alter-egos.

This is how it went.

Working through 2020

2020 needs no introduction. For those who still had a job, it was a year full of uncertainty and anxiety. I was making the best efforts to keep my business afloat and I managed to do so. But at a cost.

I was working 10–12 hours a day and took many jobs I usually wouldn’t take because the pay wasn’t as good. This lead to me working pretty much around the clock, trying to pile up a little security net for 2021. I’m glad I did do it that way but I was severly burnt out by the end of the year.

In the need of a break

It was all a bit too much. The news were bombarding me with doomsday messages, the anxiety was all-encompassing and many of my business partners felt it too. I just managed to experience all the drama around the american…
