No sane person is triggered by Greta. Just annoyed. Yes she is right but decisionmakers don't give a flying F. All those higher ups meeting for a climate conference to decide how WE have to live while coming by private jet and with a train of cars? Great.

Also climate change. Climate will change. It does so since millennia, depending on the earth's position in our solar system, relative to the sun and many other factors. 420.000 year old ice layers drilled up for climate-examination prove this. Does mankind have an impact? Yes certainly. And yes we are making it worse, no doubt.

But believing we can save individual species of animals on a grand scheme or PREVENT climate change is a lie that's hijacked and misused by yet another industry, the climate industry. Greta lead a very priviliged live and still does, despite a few PR stunts to show how "green" she is. Sensible people know things are upside down and change starts individually and as long as the higher ups don't change legislation about huge factors like factory production, pollution on a grander scale, etc... all we can do is live ethically on an individual basis. Many do. Many don't. And climate change can not be prevented, no matter what, what we need to do is not prevent it, but to prepare for it and adapt to it. Like we've always done. Humankind is the most adaptable species on this planet. That's our superpower.

If we then can still figure out not to hate each other for stupid reasons, the future doesn't look to grim.

Back to Greta, I believe the reason why she doesn't click with a lot of people (not only men) is that she creates much of a buzz, but also doesn't change much and that most of what she does looks and feels like an act. I know many young people that use their smartphone until it falls apart, wear second hadn clothing, fill their groceries in paper bags (recycled of course) and try to reduce the amount of meat consumed, clean up the forest etc...

That's commendable and they all started this independently of Greta and that's how it should be. Protesting on fridays for the climate won't change a thing if you're still going to get the latest smartphones by your parents and still produce a lot of garbage by consuming fast food, etc.

Ghandi said it best: Be the change you want to see in the world.

Is Greta unneccessary? No. Maybe she can inspire some people. But she is not the saint the media makes her out to be. It's still all about individual responsibility.
