Thank You, I Want to Find My Voice First!
Recently I read the most inspiring article I’ve ever read on Medium (or anywhere else) by Felicia C. Sullivan. To sum it up, it comes down to that focusing more on your writing voice and individual style is way more important than trying to apply formulas, that did or didn’t work for other folks, who so openly offer their advice (in exchange for your reading time). You know, the common advice like “Do XYZ to be succesful on Medium” or “Build your platform first”.
It always seemed to me, like there are so many people out there having perfect websites and landing pages, only to then sell “samey”, sub-par boring content on it. Sorry — who am I to judge. But… partly, I am the audience. To be totally honest with you, I’ve not had that much success writing thus far, besides a few published short stories (but I had a blast writing them) and one Medium article about mechanical keyboards doing really well. I’ve always wanted to be a writer. But not any writer, a novelist really. The gold-standard for most of us, that pick up writing as a career. At least in the beginning. Before many of us decide to go get the lower hanging fruit first, like content writing. But many keep being stuck with blogging and content writing for that exact reason, it’s relatively quick money…
