The Haunting of Bly Manor — Opinion

A commentary after recently binging it

Iam not too keen on traditional TV anymore and also streaming has lost lots of it’s appeal for me quite a while ago. Anyways, I still came back to Netflix for Stranger Things (just like everyone), more on that in another article, for a month or two. Since I’m already paying for a service that besides Stranger Things offers little for my taste and still has the controversial “Cuties” online (one of the top reasons I cancelled quite a while back and will do so again) I thought “What could it hurt to binge around and get most out of my fee?”

I watched “The Haunting of Bly Manor” just recently and wanted to get some thoughts off my chest. It would be “just grand” if you could comment with your own take on it.

Great production

Let me get this out of the way first. I loved the production quality, all the actors worked for me, especially the two kids and the housekeeper lady. Owen also seemed to be a real treat. The settings worked, it was moody as all hell, camera angles were done well and there was always something to discover in the shadows, that moved or looked odd. Great work, really. Especially for a trope that has been done over and over again. Spooky mansion with weird people in it. This felt “fresh” and “familiar” in all the best…
